Planned power outages are taking place in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province Nov. 10-11 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced that electricity disruptions are occurring on the following days:

  • Nov. 10: Scheduled electricity disruptions are occurring in Reusey Keo, Sen Sok, and Prek Pnov districts of Phnom Penh, as well as Ponhnea Leur District of Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00. Further planned disruptions will take place in Kambol District in Phnom Penh and Ta Khmau Town and Ang Snoul District in Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

  • Nov. 11: Outages will occur in parts of Por Sen Chhey and Kambol districts in Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00. Additional outages will take place in other parts of Por Sen Chhey and Kambol districts in Phnom Penh, as well as Ta Khmau Town in Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
