Cambodia: Planned power outages to affect parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province through May 19
Power outages to occur in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province, Cambodia, through May 19 due to repair works.
Due to maintenance work, planned power outages will occur in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province, through May 19. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:
May 17: In parts of Takhmao, Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Boeung Keng Kang, Chbar Ampov Dangkor, Kambol, Meanchey, Por Sen Chey, Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, and in parts of Kandal Steung District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00
May 18: In parts of Chbar Ampov, Dangkor, Kambol, Meanchey, Por Sen Chey, Prek Pnov districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-1600
May 19: In parts of Chroy Changva District in Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Chbar Ampov, Dangkor, Kambol, Por Sen Chey districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00
Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
