Colombia: Taxi drivers to protest in Bogota Nov. 22
Taxi drivers to protest in several locations across Bogota, Colombia, Nov. 22. Disruptions likely.
Taxi drivers have announced plans to protest across several locations of Bogota Nov. 22. Participants will gather in several areas of the capital, including Usme, Suba, Tunal, and Techo from 05:00. Protesters will also gather along Calle 170 and along Avenida 26, between Carrera 3 and El Dorado International Airport (BOG). Other likely protest sites include the intersection of Autopista Sur and Avenida Boyaca, the Terminal Sur, and Avenida Primero de Mayo. Activists will likely block several streets or do slow-drive demonstrations, complicating ground transport operations in the city. The action is to protest fuel prices and, among other things, demand that those providing private transport services illegally be removed from the streets.
Significant transport disruptions are likely throughout Bogota Nov. 22, including near BOG. Business disruptions are also likely. Clashes between police and demonstrators cannot be ruled out.
Plan for delays, including along roads leading to BOG, and seek alternative routes if operating in Bogota Nov. 22. Do not attempt to cross a roadblock if you encounter one. Heed instructions from authorities.
