India: Aam Aadmi Party plans rallies across Uttar Pradesh State through at least early December

Aam Aadmi Party to hold rallies across Uttar Pradesh State, India, through at least early December. Localized traffic disruptions possible.

Warning

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for rallies across Uttar Pradesh State through at least early December to denounce the arrest of a party leader over alleged money laundering charges, among other issues. The first rally will occur in Ambedkar Park, Moradabad City, at 12:00 Nov. 23. While organizers have yet to announce details of subsequent rallies, gatherings are most likely at political party offices, government buildings, public squares, near monuments, and along major thoroughfares. Turnout remains unclear; well-attended events in major cities could draw a few hundred people.

Security personnel will likely monitor the gatherings and may attempt to disperse overly disruptive crowds. Clashes between activists and police and between AAP supporters and rival political groups cannot be ruled out. Demonstrators may march along or block roadways, prompting localized transport disruptions. Localized business disruptions are possible near gathering venues.

Avoid the rallies as a precaution. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent protest sites. Do not navigate roadblocks as a safety precaution. Monitor trusted local media for updates on gathering details, as organizers may not announce them in advance. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
