India: Members of LGBTQ community to stage public gathering and march in New Delhi 12:00-17:00 Nov. 26

LGBTQ community members to stage gathering and march in central New Delhi, India, 12:00-17:00 Nov. 26. Localized disruptions likely.

Informational

Members of the LGBTQ community will hold a public gathering followed by a march in central New Delhi 12:00-17:00 Nov. 26. Participants will initially assemble at the intersection of Tolstoy Marg and Barakhamba Road. It remains unclear exactly what time the march will begin or what route it will follow; however, a similar march organized by the same group in January began at the Barakhamba Road Metro Station and ended at the Jantar Mantar Observatory. The event could draw large numbers of attendees.

Authorities will likely monitor the gathering as a precaution. While the event will probably remain largely peaceful, isolated minor skirmishes between police and activists, as well as members of opposing groups, cannot be ruled out. Associated localized business and transport disruptions are likely.

Avoid the public gathering as a standard precaution. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time near the gathering site. Plan accordingly for potential localized business disruptions. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
