Moldova: Farmers groups to protest in central Chisinau from Nov. 21
Farmers groups to lead protests in central Chisinau, Moldova, from Nov. 21. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.
The Farmers' Force Association and the National Federation of Farmers will lead demonstrations in central Chisinau from Nov. 21. The group demands that the government increase aid to the agricultural sector, in response to imports of grain from Ukraine. Agricultural sector workers will likely drive tractors and other vehicles into central Chisinau, in order to create traffic and business disruptions. Large protests are expected Nov. 21-22 and may continue in subsequent days.
Authorities will almost certainly deploy an increased security presence to monitor the protests. The demonstrations and associated security measures, including road closures and movement restrictions, will likely prompt localized transport disruptions. Isolated clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if activists attempt to breach any security cordons.
As a standard precaution, avoid the vicinity while the demonstration is taking place. Allow additional time to reach nearby destinations in central Chisinau. Heed the instructions of local authorities.
