Czech Republic: Authorities responding to shooting at Faculty of Arts on Jan Palach Square in Prague, Dec. 21 /update 1

Authorities are responding to a shooting at the Faculty of Arts building of Charles University (Univerzita Karlova) on Jan Palach Square in Prague as of the mid-afternoon Dec. 21. Police confirm there are dead and wounded, and have closed off the surrounding area. Authorities have asked those in the area to stay indoors.

Heightened security will almost certainly continue in the area surrounding the incident until authorities give the all-clear. Road travel delays on routes near the impact site are likely.
