Police have cleared the streets surrounding Charles University's Faculty of Arts (1/2 Jan Palach Square) in Prague as of early evening Dec. 21 while investigating a possible bomb. Authorities report that the assailant responsible for a shooting was found to have explosives. Authorities have evacuated residents of Valentinska Street. Officials confirm that the assailant is dead. Police have confirmed at least 15 dead and 24 wounded as a result of the shooting.
Heightened security and road closures will almost certainly continue in the area through the evening and possibly early Dec. 22 as authorities evacuate casualties and investigate the incident. Road travel delays on routes near the investigation site are likely.
