Informational

Authorities have announced that the Mont Blanc Tunnel connecting Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France, and Courmayeur, Italy, will reopen ahead of schedule at 16:00 Dec. 15. The tunnel has been closed since mid-October due to maintenance and was originally scheduled to reopen Dec. 18. Until reopening, road traffic through the tunnel is diverted to Frejus Tunnel and Little Saint Bernard Pass, as well as Swiss-French crossings Montets Pass and Great Saint Bernard Tunnel. In an unrelated event, the Mont Blanc Tunnel will be closed from 17:00-22:00 on Dec. 18 for an annual security exercise.

Transport disruptions due to overflow traffic are possible on alternate crossing routes. Disruptions at the tunnel are possible for several hours after reopening.

Allow additional time if traveling via an alternative crossing route. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
