India: Political party leader's funeral to cause traffic disruptions in Chennai Dec. 29

The funeral of Vijayakanth, popular actor and founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, will occur with state honors in Chennai, Tamil Nadu State, Dec. 29. The public will pay respects to the leader at Islands Ground along Anna Saalai through 13:00. A procession will occur towards the DMDK headquarters in Koyambedu for the funeral, expected to begin at 16:45. Thousands of supporters are likely to gather at the venues, and along the procession route, as well as at Vijayakanth's residence in Virugambakkam.
