Activists affiliated with the Jewish Community of Rome and Union of Italian Jewish Communities plan to hold a rally at Piazza del Popolo in Rome from 19:00 Dec. 5. The purpose of the action is to denounce antisemitism and terrorism. Hundreds of police officers will reportedly monitor the demonstration. The number of people that might participate in the rally was not immediately clear.
The demonstration and heightened security presence may cause localized transport disruptions. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement or politically opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
