Italy: Unionized rail transport workers to strike across Lombardy Dec. 14

Unionized rail workers employed by Trenord plan to strike across the Lombardy region 09:01-16:59 Dec. 14. Company officials have advised the public that regional, suburban, and long-distance trains, as well as airport rail service, may be subject to change or cancellation. Nevertheless, the S50 Malpensa Airport-Stabio rail line will continue to operate. Should train services to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) from Milano Cadorna station cease, replacement buses to and from the airport will operate from Via Paleocapa 1.

Rail disruptions are likely during the strike hours and may linger for several hours after the action ends. Increased vehicular traffic is possible as local commuters seek alternate means of transport. Participating workers could picket near train stations.
