Opposition activists plan to protest at Freedom Square in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 18:00 Dec. 12. Heightened security likely.
Opposition politicians have called for protests at Bratislava's Freedom Square from 18:00 Dec. 12. The purpose of the action is to denounce a government plan to dissolve a special prosecutorial office in charge of investigating corruption. It is unclear how many participants may attend. This is the second such protest following a Dec. 7 demonstration that drew several thousand participants.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration site. Low-level confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
