Tuvalu: Fiji Airways suspends all flights servicing Funafuti as of Dec. 16 due to runway damage

Fiji Airways suspends all flights out of Tuvalu as of Dec. 16 due to runway damage at Funafuti Airport. Reconfirm flights.

Critical

Fiji Airways (FJ) has reportedly canceled all flights to and from Funafuti International Airport (FUN) in Tuvalu as of Dec. 16 until further notice. The decision is due to runway damage at FUN following heavy rain in recent days. Fiji Airways is the only international airline servicing FUN, connecting Tuvalu with Suva and Nadi in Fiji. The severity of the damage is unclear, and airport officials did not state any timeframe for repairs.

Flight disruptions will likely persist in the coming days until regular airport operations resume. Lingering delays are probable after flights recommence as the airline works to clear passenger backlogs.

Reconfirm flight status at FUN. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Maintain contact with diplomatic representations.
