Flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, are likely at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in California after high winds prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue a ground delay program for Dec. 18. The ground delay program is in effect until at least 22:59. As of the early afternoon of Dec. 18, arrivals to SFO are experiencing delays averaging 97 minutes.

The FAA can extend or rescind the measure on short notice and may issue additional ground stops and/or ground delay programs for SFO over the coming hours.

Confirm flight reservations with your airline if scheduled to fly via SFO on Dec. 18; do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
