France: Activists plan to hold protest march in Paris Jan. 6

Activists plan to stage protest march in central Paris from 11:00 Jan. 6. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Activists plan to hold a protest march in central Paris from 11:00 Jan. 6 to commemorate the three Kurdish victims of a January 2013 attack in Paris, the further three victims of the December 2022 Rue d'Enghien attack, and to denounce the lack of transparency in the related inquiries. Participants will gather at Gare du Nord before marching to the Place de la Republique. It is likely that several thousand participants may attend, based on previous events.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near Gare du Nord, PLace de la Republique, or areas between these two points during the demonstration hours. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
