Unidentified gunmen ambushed a bus traveling in Bawku Municipality, Upper East Region, Jan. 22, killing at least six people and injuring seven others. Initial reports indicate the bus was transporting traders to a nearby market center when it was attacked near Manga. Authorities have deployed additional security personnel to apprehend the assailants.

A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are likely over the near term. Further attacks are possible.
