At least four explosions have reportedly occurred in the International (Green) Zone in Baghdad, Iraq, late Jan. 5. Authorities have yet to confirm the explosions. There are no further details available as of yet. However, the alleged explosions come a day after the US government targeted a Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) base in Baghdad, killing two senior Shi'a militia leaders on Jan. 4. The PMF and its affiliated groups have vowed revenge.
Increased security and localized transport and business disruptions are likely in the International Zone over the coming hours.
Avoid the impact location. Plan for localized disruptions and road travel delays. Heed the instructions of the security forces.
