Italy: Farmers protesting in Verona, Jan. 23-24

Local farmers gathered to protest on the outskirts of Verona on Jan. 23 to denounce the EU's agricultural policy and the increased production costs. Around 100 tractors and likely a few hundred farmers gathered in Sommacampagna Street on the morning of Jan. 23; the gathering is planned to continue on Jan. 24.

Authorities will likely deploy law enforcement officers to monitor the gathering. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely until the end of the demonstration. Violence is not expected.
