An assailant armed with a rock targeted People's Power Party politician and lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin at around 17:00 on Jan. 25 in the Cheongdam neighborhood of Gangnam District, Seoul. Bae sustained injuries due to the incident. Authorities have detained the perpetrator but have not clarified the motive behind the attack.

The Jan. 25 attack follows a similar incident on Jan. 2, where an assailant armed with a knife targeted Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung during a visit to the construction site of a new airport in Daehang-dong, Gadeok Island, Busan. These occurrences underscore a growing trend of targeted attacks on politicians, raising concerns about potential disruptions and increased security measures in affected areas.
