Activists affiliated with the Interunion Plenary of Workers-National Convention of Workers (Plenario Intersindical de Trabajadores–Convencion Nacional de Trabajadores, PIT-CNT) will gather in Montevideo to protest recent layoffs on Jan. 9. Participants will gather from 10:00 at the junction of 25 de Mayo and Juncal streets, near the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, in central Montevideo.
The demonstration will likely result in localized transport disruptions in downtown Montevideo. Heightened security is likely in the area. Skirmishes between demonstrators and the police cannot be ruled out.
Avoid all protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach your destination, if operating in Montevideo, Jan. 9. Reconfirm transport schedules.
