Informational

Opposition politicians will lead a demonstration in central Tirana, Feb. 20. It is not immediately clear when or where the demonstration will start; it is possibly to be held outside the Parliament, based on a based event Feb. 5. Sali Berisha, the former leader of the Democratic Party, former president and prime minister, who is under house-arrest, called for the protest to denounce the current government. It is likely that low thousands of participants will take part, based on previous events.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations near Albania's Parliament. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
