Cambodia: Planned power outages to occur in Phnom Penh through Feb. 18

Power outages to affect parts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, through Feb. 18 due to maintenance work. Transport and business disruptions possible.

Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced planned power outages in parts of Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00 on the following days due to maintenance work:

  • Feb. 16: Parts of the Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Khan Chamkarmon, Khan Daun Penh, Khan Meanchey, Khan Por Sen Chey, and Khan Russey Keo districts.

  • Feb. 17: Parts of Khan 7 Makara, Khan Chbar Ampov, Khan Daun Penh, Khan Meanchey, Khan Por Sen Chey, Khan Russey Keo, Khan Sen Sok, and Khan Toul Kork districts.

  • Feb. 18: Parts of Khan Chbar Ampov, Khan Daun Penh, Khan Por Sen Chey, Khan Sen Sok, and Khan Toul Kork districts.

Delays in the restoration of services are possible. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals during outages. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
