Cambodia: Power outages planned in Phnom Penh and Kandal Province Feb. 10-11

Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced planned power outages in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province on the following days:

  • Feb. 10: Electricity disruptions are scheduled in Chbar Ampov District in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City in Kandal Province 08:00-13:00. Further planned disruptions will take place in Sen Sok, Por Sen Chey, Prek Pnov, and Kambol districts in Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00.

  • Feb. 11: Outages will occur in Por Sen Chey District in Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00 and Chbar Ampov District in Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00.

Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
