Chile: Route 68 closed following fire in Lo Prado Tunnel Feb. 24

Authorities closed traffic in both directions on Route 68 after a car caught fire in Lo Prado Tunnel. No injuries were reported, and the fire was reportely extinguished. Reports indicate that heavy smoke remains in the tunnel, and emergency services are still working on the ventilation system in the tunnel. Authorities stated that traffic would be cut off on Route 68 towards Santiago until 10:30, while traffic would reopen towards Valparaiso around 10:00. Traffic along the Lo Prado slope, around the tunnel, is permitted for light vehicles.
