Colombia: Activists plan to hold protests in Bogota Feb. 22
Activists plan to demonstrate in several sites in Bogota, Colombia, Feb. 22, to demand the Supreme Court to select a new Attorney General.
Activists plan to hold protests in several locations throughout Bogota Feb. 22, to demand members of the Supreme Court to select a new Attorney General. The Supreme Court has scheduled a meeting for that purpose Feb. 22, but it has been unable to elect an Attorney General in two previous meetings. Demonstrators plan to rally starting at 08:00 at Plaza de Bolivar and have also called on activists to gather outside the Supreme Court and outside the Attorney General's Office in Bogota; further detail remains unclear.
A large security deployment is likely in the affected area, with associated transport disruptions. Clashes between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out.
Avoid all protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach your destination if operating in central Bogota Feb. 22. Strictly heed instructions from authorities.
