France: Feminist activists to rally in Paris Feb. 23

Unions and feminist movements plan rally in Paris, France, 19:00 Feb. 23. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Labor unions and media associations representing workers in the media sector, including CGT Spectacle and the Society of French Directors, plan to protest in Paris on Feb. 23 to denounce violence against women in film and television. Participants will gather outside the Olympia theater on Boulevard des Capucines from 19:00. Although attendance levels are unclear, previous similar demonstrations have seen high participation.

The rally will coincide with the French national film awards, the Cesar Awards. Accordingly, tight security is likely. Related road travel and business disruptions are possible in the vicinity of the event. Violence is not anticipated.

Avoid the protest as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near the impacted area. Seek alternate routes to circumvent any related transport disruptions. Heed instructions from authorities.
