Gaza Strip: Israel launches airstrikes against Rafah, Gaza Strip, overnight Feb. 11-12
Casualties reported following Israeli airstrikes against Rafah, Gaza Strip, Palestinian Territories, overnight Feb. 11-12.
Reports indicate that at least 37 people are dead and dozens of others injured following Israeli strikes on Gaza's southern city of Rafah overnight Feb. 11-12. Unconfirmed sources indicate that the city's north and center are worst affected. Israeli ships, tanks, and planes reportedly participated in the strikes. Residents claim that the airstrikes struck several houses and mosques.
The Israeli military said it struck terror targets around Rafah's Shaboura district and that the series of strikes have 'concluded,' though they provided no further detail. Israeli officials also announced the rescue of two Israeli hostages during the course of the operation.
A heightened security posture is likely in Rafah over the coming hours and days. Retaliatory attacks are possible.
Heed the instructions of local security forces. If airstrikes, artillery fire, or warning sirens are reported in the general vicinity, take cover in the nearest bomb shelter and remain there until further instructions are provided by authorities.
