Italy: Unionized public transport workers to strike and protest in Palermo, Feb. 21

Public transport workers represented by multiple labor unions are striking in Palermo Feb. 21. Bus and tram network operations are being disrupted through 17:00. Striking workers are gathering in Piazza Crispi, and will march to Piazza Marina during the day. The FILT CGIL, FIT CISL, UIL Trasporti, Faisa CISAL, UGL Trasporti, COBAS Trasporti, and ORSA Trasporti unions are demanding increased pay.

Significant disruptions to public transport services are being reported in Palermo. Lingering disruptions are likely following the completion of strike action. Authorities will likely deploy additional police to the demonstration; additional security measures and road closures will likely prompt localized disruptions.
