Italy: Unionized rail workers set to strike nationwide from 09:00-17:00 Feb. 12

Multiple unions representing railway staff plan strike across Italy 09:00-17:00 Feb. 12. Rail disruptions likely. Protests possible.

Warning

Several labor unions representing rail workers employed by Italiane, Italo, Trenitalia, Trenord, and Trenitalia Tper plan to strike nationwide from 09:00-17:00 Feb. 12. Additionally, rail infrastructure workers will also observe strike action during this period. The unions are calling for industrial action over pay and working conditions. Most rail services will be affected, including suburban and regional trains; however, long-distance Trenitalia services and Metro services will be unaffected.

Rail passengers will likely experience delays and cancellations throughout the Italian rail network for the duration of the strike. Disruptions may continue through the evening of Feb. 12 as services return to normal. Strike-related pickets could occur, although significant protest-related disruptions are unlikely.

Confirm all rail travel reservation details if planning to travel Feb. 12. Prepare for delays and congestion at railway stations; allow extra time for travel. Expect higher than normal demand for alternative transport options. Exercise caution near any workers' protests. Heed instructions from authorities.
