Mexico: Pro-Palestine organizations to demonstrate in multiple cities Feb. 17

Pro-Palestine protests to occur in cities across Mexico Feb. 17. Heightened security, localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Pro-Palestine activists plan to demonstrate in cities across Mexico on Feb. 17. The purpose of the action is to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and denounce the Israeli airstrikes on Rafah. Participation will likely vary significantly by location; however, the gatherings scheduled at the following places and times will probably draw the highest number of demonstrators:

  • Guadalajara: Protest at Avenida Juarez 343, Zona Centro, from 16:00.

  • Mexico City: March from Angel de la Independencia to Zocalo from 16:00.

  • Morelia: Protest at Avenida Francisco I. Madero Poniente 454 from 17:00; Protest at McDonald's on Calzada la Huerta from 14:00.

  • Monterrey: Protest outside McDonald's at Calle Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla from 14:00.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all rally sites and march routes. Participants could gather outside government buildings and on major thoroughfares. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators become overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.

Avoid the protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near impacted areas. Seek alternative routes to circumvent any related transport disruptions. Leave the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Heed the instructions of authorities.
