Nigeria: Power outages planned in parts of Abuja Feb. 24-25

Nigerian utility company plans daily power outages in parts of Abuja 09:00-16:00 Feb. 24-25 for scheduled maintenance.

Informational

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) plans to cut electrical power to parts of Abuja between the hours of 09:00-16:00 on Feb. 24 and Feb 25 to facilitate scheduled maintenance at the Apo Transmission Substation. Areas of the city to be impacted by power outage include Garki, Asokoro, Lugbe, Airport Rd, Gudu, Gaduwa, parts of Lokogoma, Apo, Kabusa, Guzape, and Nepa Junction. Authorities stated that power would be restored on both days after 16:00.

Temporary business disruptions are possible; localized traffic disruptions could also occur during the outage due to inoperable traffic signals.

Make sure mobile devices are fully charged before the outage begins; draw and store sufficient water for the duration of the power cut since well pumps in affected areas will likely be inoperable. Plan accordingly for storage of food stocks that require refrigeration. Exercise increased caution when driving through affected parts of Abuja, especially near intersections with inoperable traffic signals.
