Croatia: Opposition party calls for protests in multiple cities March 23
Opposition calls for protests in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and Osijek, Croatia, from 11:00 March 23. Additional protests possible elsewhere.
Opposition political leaders call for nationwide protests on March 23 following the refusal of Croatia's ruling party to dissolve parliament. Specifically, representatives of the SDP party called for rallies in Croatia's major cities. The following events are confirmed in the following locations from 11:00:
Zagreb: Participants will march from King Tomislav Square to European Square.
Split: Participants will gather in Gaje Bulata Square.
Rijeka: Participants will gather at 128 Brigade Square.
Osijek: Demonstrators will rally at King Drzislava Park.
Further smaller gatherings could occur in other cities.
Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the gatherings; disruptions to road travel and transport are likely near protest sites. Occasional confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers could occur.
Avoid all protests as a standard security precaution. Allow extra time if traveling in the central areas of Zagreb, Split, Rijeka or Osijek throuhg March 23. Heed instructions from authorities.
