France: Activists plan to demonstrate in Bayonne, March 12

Activists associated with the Basque region plan to demonstrate at the Law Court in Bayonne, March 12. Attendees will protest in support of four activists from the Ostia network, who will face trial that day. The Ostia network aims to protect rural areas in the Basque region from development. It is not known how many will take part; however, the protest may attract some militant activists. The trial is due to start at 14:00. However, the demonstration is likely to take place throughout the day.

Authorities will likely deploy additional security to the vicinity of the Law Court. Localized ground transport disruptions are likely, particularly if protesters occupy nearby roads. Scuffles between demonstrators and security personnel are possible.
