France: Farmers to hold go-slow convoy in Bordeaux, with rally at Regional Council Building March 11

Farmers to hold go-slow convoy in Bordeaux, France, with rally at Regional Council Building March 11. Traffic disruptions likely.

Informational

Farmers from around France's Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region plan to converge in Bordeaux on March 11, staging go-slow motorcades and protests in the city. The purpose of the action is to condemn the Regional Council's policies and to promote several agriculture-related demands.

Participating farmers will arrive in two convoys of tractors and other farm vehicles. The first group will assemble in the parking lot of the Bouliac Shopping Center at about 06:00 before crossing into Bordeaux via the Francois Mitterand Bridge at around 07:00-08:00 and moving northward to the Meriadeck neighborhood. The second convoy will enter the city via the D1113 motorway, before proceeding along a portion of the Bordeaux Ring Road. Both convoys will arrive at the Regional Council Building (Hotel de Region) between 08:30-09:00 where a rally will take place.

The local police prefecture has advised the public to plan for traffic disruptions along the Bordeaux Ring Road east-bound, as well as within the city itself starting at 06:00. The traffic situation could be further complicated by inclement weather that is forecast to remain in the area into early March 11. Authorities will likely deploy increased security near the rally at the Regional Council Building as a precaution.

Allow extra time for travel in Bordeaux into the early afternoon of March 11. Reconfirm all business appointments with the Regional Council while the planned demonstration is taking place. Heed the instructions of local police.
