Germany: Environment activists plan to stage protests in central Berlin March 20

Environment activists plan to protest at Embassy of Uganda in Berlin, Germany, 10:00 March 20. Protest at TotalEnergies headquarters likely.

Warning

Environmental protest groups, including Last Generation, will protest in Berlin March 20. The groups will denounce the planned construction of the East African oil pipeline, EACOP. Attendees will gather from 10:00 at the Embassy of Uganda; protests are also likely at the headquarters of TotalEnergies. The amount of participants the events may draw remains unclear. Last Generation staged multiple demonstrations in major cities across Germany, March 16; further events are likely in the coming days.

Local authorities will likely deploy additional security to protest events. Protesters are likely to block roads and disrupt traffic in the vicinity of protest locations. Last Generation renounced the use of glue to stick participants to roads, as of January, but will continue to use peaceful means to obstruct traffic. Scuffles are possible between frustrated motorists and activists.

Avoid all protests as a standard security precaution. Allow extra time if traveling in the vicinity of protest locations in Berlin, March 20. Heed instructions from authorities.
