India: Religious gathering to occur in parts of Delhi March 1-3

Religious event to occur in Radha Soami Satsang Complex in Delhi, India, 06:00-14:00 March 1-3. Tight security, traffic disruptions certain.

Warning

Increased security and traffic curbs will continue in and around Delhi through March 3 due to a religious gathering at the Radha Soami Satsang Complex along Bhati Mines Road in Mehrauli. Authorities are imposing traffic restrictions on non-emergency vehicles 06:00-14:00 March 1-3, as organizers expect 300,000 participants to join the gathering.

Officials have announced traffic diversions that would affect several roads, including Abdul Ghaffar Khan Marg, Andheria Mor, Anuvrat Marg, as well as Bhati Mines, Dera, Main Chhatarpur, Mehrauli-Badarpur, and Mehrauli-Gurgaon roads. Medium and heavy commercial vehicles will face movement controls along Bhati Mines, Dam, Chhatarpur, and SSN roads between 06:00-14:00 March 1-3. Entry points to Delhi from neighboring states, especially at the Dera border that connects Faridabad and Gurugram, as well as National Highways (NH) 44, 48, and 148A, and Major District Road 137 (MDR137) will likely face the highest volume of traffic.

A heightened security posture is almost certain along routes leading toward the official event site, government buildings, crowded marketplaces, and major transport hubs. Increased congestion and demand for public transport are almost certain when the attendees reach and leave the venues. Lingering disruptions are possible as participants depart Mehrauli on March 3. While the event will likely pass peacefully, isolated clashes between police and participants cannot be ruled out, especially if attendees breach security and/or traffic restrictions.

Nonparticipants should avoid the event site along Bhati Mines Road in Mehrauli as a standard security precaution. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Confirm business appointments, road status, and transport reservations through March 3. Exercise caution while driving and allow additional time to reach destinations near the impacted areas. Carry proper identification documents to present at security checks. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
