Italy: Air traffic control personnel at Verona Villafranca Airport and nationwide Air Dolomiti flight crews to go on strike March 23
Verona Villafranca Airport air traffic control personnel and Air Dolomiti flight crews to strike in Italy 10:00-18:00 March 23.
Two groups of air travel personnel plan to strike in Italy on March 23. Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel at Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN) plan to conduct a walkout from 10:00-18:00. Additionally, Air Dolomiti (EN) cabin crews will strike during the same hours. A similar action by Air Dolomiti employees on Feb. 9 led to flight disruptions. Authorities announced that the following Air Dolomiti flights will have guaranteed service:
EN 8827: VRN to Frankfurt (FRA)
EN 8826: FRA to VRN
Air travel disruptions are likely for flights on all carriers at VRN and on Air Dolomiti flights nationwide March 23 and may linger for several hours after the strike ends. Picket protests are possible, particularly at VRN; heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that take place.
Reconfirm all travel via VRN and Air Dolomiti during and after the affected hours. Allow additional time for aerial travel via VRN and Air Dolomiti on March 23. Avoid all protests as a standard precaution. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
