Lebanon: Israeli airstrikes target Hizballah's military infrastructure in Baalbek March 26

Israeli strikes Baalbek, Lebanon, March 26, targeting Hizballah positions; further cross-border violence likely.

Warning

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes on Lebanese Hizballah positions (LH) in the Zboud area of Baalbek March 26. According to the IDF, the airstrikes targeted a military compound that the militant group's aerial unit used. Hizballah militants had conducted a projectile attack against the Mount Meron air traffic control base, March 26. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Further cross-border violence is likely over the short term.

Avoid the impacted location until authorities give the all-clear. Plan for localized disruptions, allow additional time for travel, and seek alternative routes to circumvent the affected area. Heed all official directives.

IDF airstrikes killed at least two Hizballah militants in Baalbek on Feb. 26 after the group downed an Israeli drone flying over Lebanese territory.

Baalbek, an LH stronghold, is located about 100 km (62 miles) from the Israeli border.
