North Macedonia: Unionized workers plan to stage protest march in Skopje April 2

Unionized workers plan to hold protest march in central Skopje, North Macedonia, from 11:00 April 2. Localized transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized workers affiliated with the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) plan to hold a protest march in central Skopje on April 2. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce a court decision evicting the union from its headquarters. Participants will gather at the SSM headquarters on Mirche Atsev Street at 11:00 before marching to the Supreme Court building near Boulevard Krste Petkov Misirkov. Organizers did not detail the planned march route. It is unclear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists, potentially escalating to clashes, cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the SSM headquarters or the Supreme Court. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
