Emergency crews are responding to a structure fire at the old airport tower of Goose Bay Airport (YYR) in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, as of late April 19. Authorities have declared a state of emergency after several explosions occurred due to the presence of explosive materials near the blaze. Police have advised residents to maintain a 1 km (0.6 mile) radius from the impacted area as firefighting operations continue. Crews have closed several nearby roads, namely Halifax, Toronto, Winnipeg, and London streets, and Ottawa Avenue. The cause of the fire is not immediately clear. There have been no reports of casualties.
