Cyprus: Activists to demonstrate in Limassol April 13
Activists to protest at Church of Agia Napa and the Central Police Station in Limassol, Cyprus, April 13. Heightened security likely.
Activists plan to demonstrate in Limassol on April 13 to denounce the recent death of an immigrant while attempting to escape a raid by immigration authorities. Participants will gather at the Church of Agia Napa (Ekklesia tys Agias Napas) on Agiou Andreou at 12:00 before proceeding to Limassol Central Police Station (TAE Lemosou) on 16is Iouniou 1943 Street for a rally. It is unclear how many people may attend or what route participants will take between the two locations.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the demonstration areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the Church of Agia Napa or Limassol Central Police Station. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
