France: Unionized nurses to demonstrate in several cities on April 2, Paris on April 4

Unionized nurses to protest in several cities in France on April 2, then at Place de la Bastille in Paris on April 4. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized nurses plan to demonstrate in a number of French cities on April 2 before holding a central rally in Paris on April 4. The purpose of the protests is to demand increased salaries and improved working conditions. A list of all demonstrations planned for April 2 is available here. The largest planned April 2 demonstrations will likely be the following:

  • Marseille: Conseil Departemental des Bouches-du-Rhone building from 13:30.

  • Strasbourg: Place du Vieux Marche au Poissons from 14:00.

  • Toulouse: Place du Capitole from 14:00.

Additionally, participants will gather for a central protest in Paris on April 4. Demonstrators will protest at Place de la Bastille from 11:00. It is unclear how many participants will attend any of the protests.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all demonstration sites. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
