Environment activists plan to protest in Berlin and other urban centers across Germany, April 13. Heightened security, disruptions likely.

Warning

The environmental protest group Last Generation will lead protests in Berlin and other cities, April 13. The groups will call attention to record temperature rises and call for increased government action on climate change. Organizers plan "disobedient gatherings". Attendance may reach thousands of participants at each location.

Last Generation activists will gather from 12:00 at the following locations:

  • Berlin: Frankfurter Allee

  • Dusseldorf: Konigsallee, Steinstrasse

  • Hamburg: Altona S-bahn station.

Events are also planned in Konstanz, Aschaffenburg and other smaller towns. Organizers have planned further protests in coming weeks.

Local authorities will likely deploy additional security to protest events. Protesters are likely to block roads and disrupt traffic in the vicinity of protest locations. Last Generation renounced the use of glue to stick participants to roads, as of January, but will continue to use peaceful means to obstruct traffic. Scuffles are possible between frustrated motorists and activists.

Avoid all protests as a standard security precaution. Allow extra time if traveling in the vicinity of protest locations April 13. Heed instructions from authorities.
