Israeli airstrikes target town of Nabi Sheth, Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, Lebanon, April 14. Further cross-border violence likely.

Warning

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly conducted airstrikes on the town of Nabi Sheth, Baalbek District, Baalbek-Hermel Governorate April 14. There were no immediate reports of casualties. The IDF claimed the target of the attack was a Lebanese Hizballah (LH) munitions site.

Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Further cross-border violence is likely over the short term.

Nabi Sheth is located about 16 km (10 miles) south-southwest of the city of Baalbek.

Avoid the impacted location until authorities give the all-clear. Plan for localized disruptions, allow additional time for travel, and seek alternative routes to circumvent the affected area. Heed all official directives.

The incident comes amid considerable heightened regional tensions, and follows a recent pattern of the IDF increasingly targeting LH positions and infrastructure deeper inside Lebanon in an effort to deter the militant group from further attacks.
