Nigeria: Fuel shortages possible nationwide through late April

Fuel shortages possible across Nigeria through late April. Related protests possible.

Informational

Further fuel shortages are possible nationwide through at least late April. In recent days, the scarcity has prompted long queues at available fuel stations in several states and major cities, including Abuja and Lagos, among other affected locations. On April 25, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) announced that the shortage was caused by logistical issues and called on Nigerians to refrain from panic buying.

Increased demand at available fuel stations may prompt congestion on nearby roads. Fuel shortages may affect business operations and transport services. Related protests are increasingly possible, notably if fuel scarcity persists.

Plan for fuel shortages and long queues at gas stations. Confirm all ground transport services before travel. Do not buy fuel on the black market. Avoid all demonstrations.
