North Macedonia: Activists to demonstrate in Skopje April 4
Opposition activists to rally at Government of North Macedonia building in Skopje from 20:00 April 4. Traffic restrictions in effect.
Activists affiliated with the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE) party plan to rally at the Government of North Macedonia building on Bulevar Ilinden in Skopje from 20:00 April 4. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce the current government. Authorities announced on April 3 that travel restrictions were in effect on Bulevar Ilinden near the planned rally site from April 3 through the end of the demonstration. It is unclear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the rally site. A large number of participants will likely attend. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, potentially escalating to clashes, cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Government of North Macedonia building between the evening of April 3 and early morning April 5. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
