North Macedonia: Health workers to conduct protest march in Skopje April 8

Unionized health workers to hold protest march in central Skopje, North Macedonia, April 8. Transport disruptions likely.

Informational

Unionized health workers affiliated with the Union of Trade Unions of North Macedonia (SSM) plan to hold a protest march in central Skopje on April 8. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the government approve a proposed collective bargaining agreement. Participants will gather at the SSM headquarters off Mirche Acev before marching to the Supreme Court building on Krste Petkov Misirkov Boulevard. Organizers did not disclose what time the demonstration will occur. It is unclear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the SSM headquarters or the Supreme Court. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
