France: Activists to demonstrate in central Lyon during the afternoon of June 1

Pro-migrant activists plan to protest in central Lyon on June 1 to demand a Europe without borders and to condemn EU migrant policies. Participants will gather at Place Gabriel Peri at 13:00 before marching to Place Bellecour to join a pro-Palestine demonstration slated to begin at 15:00. It is unclear how many participants either event may draw.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the two gatherings. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the demonstration areas as a standard precaution. ALllow additional time to reach destinations near protest sites in the afternoon and evening hours June 1. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
