Celebrities and political activists have called for a vigil protest at Independence Square in Accra from 08:30 on May 25 over poor electricity supply. The gathering was initially planned to occur at Revolution Square. Police forces however notified organizers that the protest location was not suitable, citing security issues due to nearby government buildings, and requested activists to gather at the Independence Square instead.
